I am an IMG as well. Heme/Onc is a terrific field. We get to know the patients well, it is mentally stimulating, nothing is routine or monotonous. The cons are that it involves very serious illness. Hem-onc will likely out-earn hospitalist over 20+yrs cumulatively anyway. You'll be more than fine financially either way and reach your goals.
